Sahar, Salar, and Rohit joined IERG as Ph.D. students in September 2018 and January 2019. Sahar’s research was on “Supply chain optimization of forest-based biomass for gasification considering uncertainties”, Rohit’s was on “Optimization of harvest scheduling at the operational level”, and Salar’s was on “Optimization of log logistics at the operational level considering sorting decisions and synchronization requirements”. After taking and TAing courses; accomplishing projects in partnership with industry supervised by Dr. Sowlati; writing journal papers; and participating in scientific conferences, they defended their Ph.D. dissertation in July 2023.
